Grandma Richards

Happy 90th Birthday to Grandma Richards. We had a celebration on Saturday night honoring her and her great accomplishments. It was held at the Lion House. Grandma is such a sweet lady. She has always been very elegant, and sweet. A truly a classy lady. She has lead a beautiful life and taught her children and grandchildren by example. I am very happy to be married to her grandson. He is a great husband and father and I appreciate all he does for our family.

Happy 38th Birthday!

Anyone who knows David well, knows how he loves to travel. He likes to go somewhere on his birthday. This year he celebrated with a trip to Hawaii. We went to the island of Oahu. I had never been there. We stayed at the Marriot time-share at Ko'Olina. It was a very beautiful property and we had great company with our friends the Rebers. Jen and Rick and David and I have quite a long history together. We all went on a study abroad to Jerusalem and we lived across the street from one another during dental school. It isn't often that you find a couple that gets along as easily and well as we do. It is very relaxed and fun to be with the Rebers. Here are a few highlights.

Friday- travelled to Hawaii. Our flight was a nonstop from Salt Lake. Six hours seems longish. We arrived in Hawaii to a very windy rainy storm, but after that first evening of bad weather the weather was beautiful. Especially for January. (Rick kept reminding us that it was a bad inversion at home. That makes the trip better in his mind. He is a hoot.)

Saturday- Relaxed and hung out at the pool. Swam in the ocean and went down the waterslide. Went to the grocery store. I did not miss my exercise today.

Sunday- Exercised and then went on a walk on the beach. Attended a beautiful Sunday Brunch at Kahalua and then went to the Sony Open Golf Tournament.

Monday- David and Rick played golf and Jen and Nicole relaxed at the pool. Introduced the Rebers to our favorite game Settler's of Cataan. Rick was the winner and reminded us often.

Tuesday- Happy Birthday David! Watched the Inaguration. David and Rick played golf. David decided he should always play golf on his birthday. Relaxed in the afternoon and then went to Roys for David's birthday dinner. David ordered the fish samplers plate. He is full of surprises.

Wednesday-Headed to the Hawaiian Flee Market. Then toured Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona. It is truly amazing. It really reminded me of the sacrifices so many people have made for the freedoms I enjoy and I am very grateful.

Thursday we went sightseeing to the North Shore. We had a delicious shaved ice at Matusmoto's. We watched this Peacock. He was fun. We drove by the Hawaiian Temple and then attended the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Friday- Last day of our vacation, spent it reading and relaxing. Soaking up the sun. It needs to last me for 3 months. Flew on the red eye home. I was ready to see my cute kidos. A big thank you to Michael and Grandma Alice for taking such great care of them.

2009 Resolutions!

I am trying a different approach this year. My resolutions are:

1. Become a more consistent person.

2. Focus on improving relationships.

That's it!

If the shoe fits...?

Lucy has been doing this a lot lately. I think it is so funny. Do all kids like to do this or is it just mine?

Movie night!

This week David went to the college football National Championship game with Jason, Wade and Mike O. They had a fun trip with a lot packed into just a few days. Football and golf the perfect guy trip. I had a low key weekend with the kidos. They finished up their first week back at school and we had a fun movie night watching my all time favorite, The Parent Trap. Truman was laughing so hard just at the song at the beginning of the show. Tomorrow night for family night we hope the watch The Parent Trap II. If you haven't seen this movie in a while you should definitely check it out. It is so fun!

Terrific Toast

For about the last year our toaster has been on the brink. The inner heating elements only worked intermittently. If you wanted both sides of your bread toasted, which most people do, you had to turn the bread around half way through cooking. It is a really less effective way to make toast. So I used some of my Christmas money and replace the piece of junk, $9.99 toaster David and I have had since we got married in 1995 with this beautiful baby.
It makes the best toast! I can't really explain the difference between a piece of toast made with my old toaster and a piece of toast made with this one, but the difference is LARGE. I could eat toast all day now. I can't believe I've been missing out on this toast for all of these years. If your cheap toaster is on the brink check this one out. It was a bit pricey but I know all ready that it will be worth it.

December is a Whirlwind.

I am always excited to see December come but I am also always excited to see it go. This month has been very busy and has seemed very long. We packed a lot in and I didn't have much time for blogging so hopefully I can catch back up. My mom said to me the other day that we would be very productive people if we could get as much done every month as we do in December. That is really true. Hope everyone is recovering and getting excited for the new year and back to a routine and schedule.
